18/06/11 - UEM Championship: Pobladura, SPA

Jack Challoner (Beta) stretched in the championship, getting a convincing win in the easy round number 3, held at Pobladura, in Castile region, Northern of Spain. Keeping a grip on himself, the British, leader of the provisional standings, dominated from the beginning. He lost just 3 marks in the first loop, gaining a significant advantage on Spanish Francesc Moret (Montesa) , who scored 7 points, two less than French Benoit Dagnicourt (Beta).
Italian Matteo Grattarola (Gas Gas) was quite nervous because the sections were too easy, so he made stupid mistakes and, scoring 16, was in eighth place! In the second lap, Challoner kept his cool, dropping just 4 points. On the contrary, Moret worsened his first lap’ s score, making 12 mistakes, and was forced to yield the runner-up position to Dagnicourt, who scored only 5 marks. Too late the recovery of Grattarola (6 points). He could not climb more than the fifth place, beaten by Spanish Alfredo Gomez (Montesa) for the number of dabs (same score, same number of cleans). Now the gap from Challoner and Grattarola in the championship rose to 17 points.
British Jack Sheppard (Beta) won the Junior class, re-gaining the leadership in the Championship. Still too easy the level of the sections, consequently it was very important to keep high the concentration. At half competition, provisionary championship ‘s leader, French Cedric Tempier (Sherco) was leading, having let only two dabs in the whole loop. Behind him, two riders scored 3 marks: Italian Giacomo Saleri (Beta) and French Steven Coquelin (Gas Gas). Then Italian Francesco Cabrini (Beta) and Sheppard, tied with one point more.
Cleaning the whole second lap, Sheppard clinched this important victory, because Tempier made a big mistake in section 10, sliding to fourth place, overtaken by Saleri and Coquelin, that occupied the rostrum in this order. In the championship Sheppard now leads with 53 points, second is Saleri (49), then Tempier (48) and Coquelin (45).
Third success in a row for ItalianAndrea Buschi (Ossa) in the Over 40 class, this time very poor of participants. Second and last French Philippe Bontemps (Gas Gas). Also only two riders in the International class, won by Spanish young girl, Sandra Gomez (Gas Gas).
