21/08/15 - FIM Europe Champs: last round in Grimmialp, Switzerland

Grimmialp, Switzerland, 25 years later: here is the venue chosen to end the FIM Europe championships and cups of this season. Indeed, it was in September 1990 when in this small mountain village that Jordi Tarres celebrated his third world title, even if this last round was won by Donato Miglio, who finished the season in third position, behind Diego Bosis.

In the upcoming weekend 5 European titles will be assigned. Like one week ago in Belgium, there will be two days of competitions. On Saturday Women and Youth's classes, while on Sunday Europe, Junior and Over 40 classes.

In two classes the advantage of the leader is quite clear and except for sensational twists, both the riders should be crowned. We are talking of Toby Martyn (Beta), who won the two previous rounds in the Youth category, and Pierre Sauvage (Sherco), winner of three rounds out of four in the Junior class. But respectively Sergio Piardi (Beta) and Luca Corvi (Scorpa) will try everything to reverse the forecast.

In all the other classes the situation is very uncertain and complex. Starting from the top class, where two riders are sharing the first position. Francisc Moret (Vertigo) and Gianluca Tournour (Gas Gas) are going to put everything at stake in this last round. It doesn't matter if Moret has more wins in his carnet, who will finish the race ahead of the other will be the European champion.

In the Women class, German Theresa Baeuml (Ossa) and Italian Sara Trentini (Sherco) are separated by few points and Sara, being behind, needs to finish the race ahead of Theresa to hope in a final success.

In the Over 40, Vladimir Kothay (Ossa) from Slovakia is still at one step from the title, but in case of victory of his main rival John Van Veelen (Ossa), it will be the Dutch rider to clinch the title. According to the rules, in fact, only the best 3 results will be taken into consideration, so both of them can count on 2 wins and one second place, but Van Veelen had better results in the final part of the championship, and the lately results are more important in case of tied in points.

Campionati Europei FIM Europe : ultima prova a Grimmialp, Svizzera

Grimmialp, Svizzera, 25 anni dopo :questo il posto scelto per concludere I campionati e coppe FIM Europe della stagione. Infatti, era settembre del 1990 ed in questo piccolo villaggio di montagna, Jordi Tarres aveva festeggiato il suo terzo titolo mondiale, ma la gara era stata vinta da Donato Miglio, terzo in quel campionato, alle spalle di Diego Bosis.

Nel week-end in arrivo si assegneranno 5 titoli europei. Come la settimana prima in Belgio, due giorni di gare diverse. Sabato le Women ed i Youth , mentre domenica la Europe, gli Junior e gli Over 40.

In due classi il vantaggio del leader è tale che, a meno di clamorosi colpi di scena, entrambi I piloti dovrebbero portare a casa la corona. Stiamo parlando di Toby Martyn (Beta) che ha vinto le due prove precedenti nella categoria Youth e Pierre Sauvage (Sherco) , vincitore di tre gare su quattro tra gli Junior. Ma rispettivamente Sergio Piardi (Beta) e Luca Corvi (Scorpa) tenteranno di tutto per invertire i pronostici.

Nelle alter classi la situazione è più nebulosi. Partendo dalla classe regina dove due piloti condividono la prima piazza. Francisc Moret (Vertigo) e Gianluca Tournour (Gas Gas) si giocano tutto in quest’ultima gara. Non fa nulla se Moret conta più vittorie nel suo carnet, chi arriverà davanti all’altro sarà campione.

Tra le Women, Theresa Bauml (Ossa) e Sara Trentini (Sherco) sono separate da pochi punti e Sara, essendo dietro, dovrà per forza batterla per sperare ancora nel successo finale.

Nella Over 40, Vladimir Kothay (Ossa) è ancora ad un piccolo passo dal titolo, ma in caso di vittoria del suo avversario principale John Van Veelen (Ossa) sarà quest’ultimo campione. Perchè secondo il regolamento, si prendono in considerazione i migliori 3 risultati, ed entrambi possono contare su 2 vittorie ed un secondo posto, ma Van Veelen avrebbe fatto meglio nella parte finale del campionato, ed in caso di parità gli ultimi risultati sono più importanti.
