04/03/18 - Grattarola (Montesa) on top in the Due Giorni Della Brianza, 36th edition

Matteo Grattarola (Montesa) topped a very cold 36th edition of the Italian oldest "classical" competition : the Due Giorni Della Brianza. For the national number one it was his sixth triumph, the fifth in a row. Less riders than usual, especially among the top's , with the forfeit of the Gas Gas and TRS teams in disagreement with the regulations adopted in this race, ie the no-stop, in line with the FIM, but in disagreement with ours and many other National Federations. Other French riders have been discouraged by the atmospheric conditions, truly prohibitive, also due to the difficulty in traveling the roads to get there.

The organizers of the Monza club, just in honor of who invented and supported, the late Giulio Mauri on whom is now entitled the Trophy, did not give up and cleaned the snow from the 15 sections to be repeated twice.

Grattarola was already leading on Saturday, he had in the latter 125cc world champion category, Lorenzo Gandola (Scorpa), the most bitter opponent, even though he never really worried him, being the final difference, 28 points (35 against 63). In third place on the first day there was Pietro Pietrangeli (Sherco), reached and then overtaken by two French riders on Sunday. Quentin Carles de Caudemberg (Beta) climbed to the final podium ahead of Teo Colairo (Gas Gas).

Also pilots of other 5 categories competed. In the one immediately below, the “Super” there was a consistent return. Ex-world pilot Piero Sembenini (Montesa) - taking advantage of the preparation of the homonymous team to support Grattarola – rejoined the races and immediately won. On the highest podium also Valter Feltrinelli (Montesa) in the “Entry£, Sara Trentini (Montesa) in the Women, Umberto Trentini (Montesa) in the “Amatori” and Mauro Vietti Violi (Guzzi) in the “Vintage”.
