02/08/18 - Santo Stefano d'Aveto is hosting two days of FIM Europe competitions

Crucial moments for riders of all the classes of the FIM Europe Trial Championship as in the next two week-ends all titles will be assigned: in Italy and in Belgium the two venues chosen. First European pilots are expected to enter in Santo Stefano d’Aveto, little village on the mountains behind Genova, where in 2012 one round of the FIM World Championship has been held.

Do not be frightened by the high temperatures that are crossing Italy - and not only- in these days. Santo Stefano d’Aveto is situated at almost 1000mt of altitude , consequently some degrees less than any other part are guaranteed.

As usual when all the categories are present, on Saturday Women’s and Youths are on the scene. Spanish Berta Abellan (Vertigo) will have to defend her smooth advantage on German Theresa Bauml (Montesa), but Italian Sara Trentini (Montesa), been gratifying by her recent success in the Italian championship, could play an important role, too.

In Youth class it seems to be a Spanish deal between Martin Riobo (Gas Gas) and Pol Medina (Beta) , but this category is subjected to quick changes as the grow of very young riders is always unpredictable .

The main competition is scheduled on Sunday. Eyes on favorite Italian Matteo Grattarola (Montesa) who is crossing a period of highs and lows results. Unbeatable on difficult sections he often accused weak points on easy ones. British Toby Martyn (Montesa) has lately tore him the leadership in Trial2 class of the world championship, and will try to do the same here, but he is only in third in the overall standings, behind Spanish Francesc Moret (Montesa) ready to make profit from any false step of these twos.

More defined the situation in the Junior class. Italian Sergio Piardi (Beta) will present himself in front of his fans strong as never, having collected 3 victories out of 3 rounds. Behind him the most quoted rival could be French Kieran Touly (Sherco).

Between the “aged” over 40 riders, German Markus Kipp (TRS) continues to be the man to beat. Piero Sembenini (Montesa) has the right stuff to try to tip over the situation, having on his side Italian crowd.

Whoever wants to follow the two-days of competitions riding his trial bike will be granted by the organizers after having purchased a regular pass.

Santo Stefano d'Aveto tappa dell'Europeo in questo week-end

Momenti cruciali per i piloti di tutte le classi del FIM Europe Trial Championship visto che nei prossimi due week-end saranno assegnati tutti I titoli: tappe in Italia ed in Belgio. Prima tocca a noi a Santo Stefano d’Aveto, paesino di montagna dell'entroterra ligure dove si era fatto un mondiale nel 2012. Non fatevi spaventare dal gran caldo di questi giorni, essendo Santo Stefano d’Aveto a circa 1000 mt d'altezza , ci dovrebbe essere qualche grado in meno.

Come al solito quando sono presenti tutte le categorie, al sabato vanno in scena i giovanissimi e le donne. La spagnola Berta Abellan (Vertigo) dovrà difendere il suo lieve vantaggio sulla tedesca Theresa Bauml (Montesa), mala nostra Sara Trentini (Montesa), gratificata del suo recente successo all'Italiano non starà solo a guardare.

Tra i giovani (Youth) sembra più un affare spagnolo tra Martin Riobo (Gas Gas) e Pol Medina (Beta) , ma questa è una categoria soggetta a veloci cambiamenti perchè la crescita dei piloti giovanissimi è sempre difficile da prevedere.

La gara più importante è in programma domenica. Occhi puntati sul favorito Matteo Grattarola (Montesa) che sta attraversando un periodo con alti e bassi. Imbattibile quando le zone sono dure, molto più vulnerabile se sono troppo facili. L'inglese Toby Martyn (Montesa) che gli ha strappato il primato nella classe Trial2 del mondiale, proverà a fare altrettanto qui, ma in campionato è solo terzo, dietro allo spagnolo Francesc Moret (Montesa) pronto ad approfittare di ogni passo falso dei due protagonisti.

Più chiara la situazione nella Junior, con Sergio Piardi (Beta) che si presenterà forte di tre vittorie su tre gare. Dietro il più accreditato antagonista potrebbe essere il francese Kieran Touly (Sherco).

Tra i “vecchi” della Over 40 il tedesco Markus Kipp (TRS) continua ad essere l'uomo da battere. Piero Sembenini (Montesa) ha le carte in regola per ribaltare la situazione, sfruttando il fattore casa.
