25/03/18 - Matteo Grattarola started on his right foot in Gubbio -

Matteo Grattarola (Montesa) started again as he ended in the last champhionship, with a clear victory. In Spoleto, center of Italy, 2017 Italian series ended and in Gubbio, still tin the center the 2018 series began.

Matteo won his 29th round in a row. He was never beaten in the last 4 years. And this time he was proud to have beaten number six in the world ranking , English James Dabill, back on Beta in this season.

Dabill lost this duel thanks to a remarkable gap gained by Grattarola in the first lap, then managed in the other two' s. Indeed it was probably the last time to use the formula of 3 laps, 10 sections.

Grattarola started strongly : just 4 marks his first card. Dabill suffered a bit the different rules- his country adopted non stop – and finished the first lap in third position: 12 points, overtaken by Luca Petrella (TRS), scoring 11. Almost on the same level the other two laps for Grattarola and Dabill, while Petrella slid in third place.

Next round in Lazzate, near Milano, on 22nd of April.
