21/04/19 - Matteo Grattarola , Matias Vold Gunvaldsen Jarand and Andrea Soulier topped Pietramurata

Matteo Grattarola (Sembenini Nils Redmoto Montesa), Matias Vold Gunvaldsen Jarand (TRRS) and Andrea Soulier (Beta) inaugurated the 28th edition of the FIM Europe Trials Championship winning the first round, held in Pietramurata, North-East of Italy.

In the main class, former champion Grattarola, despite of his age, kept behind the long list of hardened aspirants, all younger than him. Smooth difference at the end: just one point less than Gabriel Marcelli (Montesa), 14 against 15 that means these two's had an unbelievable riding on the 15 sections to be repeat twice.

In third, but leader at the turning point, Ariol Gelabert (Scorpa), who fought with the mentioned two's until three sections from the end. Failing section 13, he finished a bit distant scoring 21 points, but the situation was on a razor's edge for the whole competition. Now more than ever the level of this championship is high. In five points out of podium, there are Francesc Moret (Montesa), then Gianluca Tournour (SPEA Gas Gas), Jack Peace (Sherco) and Toby Martyn (Beta).

Winner of the Junior class Vold Gunvaldsen started soon very well and gained a smooth lead on Marco Mempor (Beta) at the end of first lap: 16 him, 17 Mempor. In the second lap, he was able to still improve his score (15) while his rival made a couple of fives and ended with 22 marks. In third a rider from Venezuela, David Avendano Arocha (Vertigo) whose score was 41, tied with Gil Vila (Gas Gas) but with more cleans.

Soulier topped the Over 40 class - rich of blazoned champions - for a while (1 point ) on Andrea Buschi (TRRS). Three riders ended the first lap with 6 points: besides Soulier and Buschi, Marco Andreoli (Vertigo), while John Van Veelen (Gas Gas) was chasing with 3 marks more. Only Soulier was able to repeat his performance. Buschi put one foot more, while Andreoli and Van Veeelen broke down, overtaken by a regular Markus Kipp (TRRS) who grasped the podium.

Philipp Emonts (Beta) won the International 2 class recovering from Simon Sordyl (Gas Gas) , leader at the turning point. Third Luca Poncia (Beta). The only one rider in the International 1 class was nice guy seventy year old Carlo Fabbri (Montesa), who rode just the loop for fun.

Second round will be in a week in Monza circuit.

Matteo Grattarola , Matias Vold Gunvaldsen Jarand q Andrea Soulier svettano a Pietramurata

Matteo Grattarola (Sembenini Nils Redmoto Montesa), Matias Vold Gunvaldsen Jarand (TRRS) e Andrea Soulier (Beta) hanno inaugurato la 28 ° edizione del Campionato Europeo Trials FIM con una vittoria. Si è corso a Pietramurata, vicino a Trento.

Nella classe principale, Grattarola ha prevalso sulla lista dei giovani agguerriti pretendenti anche se solo di un punto su un tenace Gabriel Marcelli (Montesa), 14 punti contro 15, a sottolineare quanto siano stati bravi sulle 15 zone da ripetere due volte.

Terzo, ma leader al giro di boa, Ariol Gelabert (Scorpa), che ha combattuto con i due fino a tre sezioni dalla fine. Con un cinque alla 13, ha concluso un po' più staccato, segnando 21 punti, ma la situazione è stata incerta per l'intera competizione: molto alto il livello in questo campionato. A cinque punti dal podio ci sono Francesc Moret (Montesa), poi Gianluca Tournour (Gas Gas SPEA), Jack Peace (Sherco) e Toby Martyn (Beta).

Il vincitore della classe Junior Vold Gunvaldsen ha iniziato molto bene e ha concluso con un lieve vantaggio su Marco Mempor (Beta) al primo giro: 16 lui, 17 Mempor. Nel secondo giro, è stato in grado di migliorare ancora il suo punteggio (15), mentre il suo rivale ha fatto un paio di cinque e ha concluso con 22 punti. Al terzo posto un pilota venezuelano, David Avendano Arocha (Vertigo) a 41 , alla pari di Gil Vila (Gas Gas) ma con più zeri.

Soulier ha trionfato nella classe Over 40 - ricca di campioni blasonati – di poco(1 punto) su Andrea Buschi (TRRS). Tre piloti hanno concluso il primo giro con 6 punti: oltre a Soulier e Buschi, Marco Andreoli (Vertigo), mentre John Van Veelen (Gas Gas) inseguiva con 3 punti in più. Solo Soulier è stato in grado di ripetere la sua prestazione. Buschi ha messo un piede in più, mentre Andreoli e Van Veeelen sono crollati, sorpassati da un regolare Markus Kipp (TRRS) capace di raggiungere il podio.

Philipp Emonts (Beta) ha vinto la classe International 2 recuperando su Simon Sordyl (Gas Gas), leader al giro di boa. Terzo Luca Poncia (Beta). L'unico pilota della classe International 1 è stato il “ragazzo” settantenne Carlo Fabbri (Montesa), che ha fatto il giro giusto per il suo divertimento.

Il secondo round sarà la prossima settimana nell'autodromo di Monza.
