31/03/19 - Matteo Grattarola started on his right foot!
Matteo Grattarola (Sembenini Nils Redmoto Montesa) got off to a good start in the first of the Italian Championship, held in San Gemini (TR). Despite the presence of the most quoted in the world ranking, English James Dabill (Beta), the Lecco rider continued to dominate, reaching the record of 35 consecutive victories in our top league. In the two laps of 12 zones, he scored partial at 10 and 7, concluding with almost half of the points of Dabill (23 and 8) the best pursuer.
Third but second in the championship was the Piedmontese Gianluca Tournour (SPEA Gas Gas) who had a lightning start, even jumping into the lead after 5 zones, then dropped but only in the final he had to give Dabill the runner-up place .
Immediately after but slightly more detached, Luca Petrella (Beta) while Andrea Riva (TRRS) sweated to defend the fifth place from the rookie in Lorenzo Lorenzo Gandola (Vertigo), behind for just 3 points (51 to 54).
In TR2 success of Sergio Piardi (Beta) ahead of Manuel Copetti (TRRS) and Stefano Bertolotti (Beta).
Some news like the obligatory stop of the pilots after the first lap, world style, has aroused perplexity. Surely it will be a point to work on, also because from the 60 drivers of the world champs we pass to the 104 of today. Result? Very long queues in the first section.
Debut of the Electric Motorcycles class with 4 participants, all on a single brand, Electric Motion. Unfortunately, the same number of women competing. Successes respectively for Edoardo Verdari and Alex Brancati (Beta).
Discreet public, favored by the wonderful sunny day and by the excellent grouping of the sections that allowed the vision with the least effort.
Next meeting on June 2nd in Gerola Alta (Sondrio).
