06/11/21 - Bou on Raga at the first X-TRIAL round in Andorra

In what is gonna be the shortest X-Trial World Championship in the history, reduced to two rounds in total, the scene did not change. Toni Bou (Repsol Montesa) beat in final Adam Raga (TRRS).

The only significant sign has come from the imponent return in these series of Italian Matteo Grattarola (Beta) able to get the best score in the qualification phase with just 4 points. Almost half of what done by super quoted Bou, Raga and Jaime Busto (Vertigo).

Grattarola worsened in the second phase and lost the chance to dispute the final. On the contrary Bou cleaned the loop, Raga assured the second place, one point ahead of Busto, who gained the right to fight for the third place against Grattarola.

A superlative Bou cleaned the final phase, too, while Raga gathered 11 points. In the other final, Busto defeated Grattarola after the tie-break.

The next and last round will be in Barcellona in two weeks

Here are riders and criterium of choice for this short season

Nine riders from three different countries. Eight permanent for the 2021 FIM X-Trial World Championship: 14-times World Champion Toni Bou (Repsol Montesa-HRC) who joined the upcoming campaign having won seven out of eight rounds of the 2020 series, then Adam Raga (TRRS) and Jeroni Fajardo (Sherco) who completed the Championship podium last year.

In total, no less than seven Spaniards are included in the field, with the new generation comprising Jorge Casales (Gas Gas), Jaime Busto (Vertigo), Gabriel Marcelli (Montesa) and Miquel Gelabert (Gas Gas), all of whom have reached at least one X-Trial podium .

Matteo Grattarola (Beta) is the only non-Spaniard in the permanent line-up, the Italian one - who set for his first full winter season since 2013 - joined this group thanks to a stunning fourth place in the 2021 TrialGP. Completing the order for X-Trial Andorra La Vella was Great Britain’s Toby Martyn (TRRS), the newly crowned Trial2 World Champion acted as Wild Card.

Bou su Raga alla prima del mondiale X-TRIAL in Andorra

In quello che sarà il campionato mondiale X-Trial più breve della storia, ridotto a due gare in totale, la scena non è cambiata. Toni Bou (Repsol Montesa) ha battuto in finale Adam Raga (TRRS).

L'unica nota piacevolmente significativa è arrivata dall'imponente ritorno in queste serie del nostro Matteo Grattarola (Beta) capace di ottenere il miglior punteggio in fase di qualificazione con soli 4 punti. Quasi la metà di quanto fatto dai super quotati Bou, Raga e Jaime Busto (Vertigo).

Grattarola è peggiorato nella seconda fase e ha perso la possibilità di disputare la finale. Bou al contrario si è rifatto girando a zero, Raga si è assicurato il secondo posto, un punto davanti a Busto, che ha guadagnato il diritto di lottare per il terzo posto contro Grattarola.

Un superlativo Bou ha girato a zero anche nella fase finale, mentre Raga ha raccolto 11 punti. Nell'altra finale, Busto ha sconfitto Grattarola dopo il tie-break.

Ecco piloti e criteri di scelta per questa breve stagione

Nove piloti provenienti da tre paesi diversi. Otto permanenti per il campionato mondiale FIM X-Trial 2021: il 14 volte campione del mondo Toni Bou (Repsol Montesa-HRC) che si è guadagnato l'accesso con sette vittorie delle otto gare della serie 2020, quindi Adam Raga (TRRS) e Jeroni Fajardo (Sherco) che hanno completato il podio del campionato lo scorso anno.

In totale sono in campo ben sette spagnoli, con la nuova generazione composta da Jorge Casales (Gas Gas), Jaime Busto (Vertigo), Gabriel Marcelli (Montesa) e Miquel Gelabert (Gas Gas), che hanno tutti raggiunto almeno un podio X-Trial.

Matteo Grattarola (Beta) è l'unico non spagnolo nella formazione permanente, il lecchese è stato invitato - dopo la sua prima stagione invernale completa del 2013 - grazie allo straordinario quarto posto al mondiale 2021. A completare l'ordine per X-Trial Andorra La Vella è stato il britannico Toby Martyn (TRRS), il neo-incoronato campione del mondo Trial2 ha corso come Wild Card.
