26/01/23 - Those who love to ride a motorcycle in the mountains also clean the trails!

In 2015, on the occasion of the European championship round organized in Luserna San Giovanni, the Alpi Ovest motorcycle club had a brilliant idea: to exploit the shock wave of an international event to relaunch the Trial among the very young.

A competition which required a drawing on the Trial from school-age children from neighboring municipalities was organized. A DVD was then distributed to all the participants without distinction. The DVD wanted to convince them to try Trials, starting - as is often used in mathematical demonstrations - from denying the opposite: the reasons that can potentially distance people from our sport. One of these reasons that we discover is still relevant today is to dispel the cliché that there are no places to go while respecting the laws, avoiding the risk of being hunted down by the forest police as a criminal.

As reiterated in the video, it is not true that there are no trails where we can exercise our passion in complete freedom. In Piedmont, without a doubt, the palm of the richest area in which enthusiasts can circulate in perfect legality goes to the Valli del Canavese motorcycle club.

For more than ten years Vanni Crisapulli – president – and members have had an area of about 40 square kilometers and 200 km of paths that intersect in the municipalities of Alpette, Canischio, Forno Canavese, Pont Canavese, Prascorsano, Pratigliano, Levone, Monastero di Lanzo , Rocca Canavese, San Colombano di Belmonte and Sparone.

The secret? A synergy between what is the bureaucratic and political work perpetrated in the appropriate locations, and what the 130 members - perhaps not all in the same way - provide for the cleaning and maintenance of this heritage.

In the former, the success is mainly due to the diplomacy and compliance of Vanni - today deputy mayor of the municipality of Cuorgnè, considered the capital of this land that rises north of Turin towards the Val d'Aosta. Vanni never stops supporting the interventions that woods and paths need so that the vegetation does not erase them forever. Often the CAI(National association to protect the nature) cannot comply with the issue, due to the vastness of the territory and the scarcity of funds available.

So the ancient saying of "combining business with pleasure" is welcome. The function of keeping paths and mule tracks in exchange for the possibility of using them by motorbike, "is well worth a mass" - Henry IV, a pioneer in the past (perhaps) would say.

Never mind if these improvements can also be enjoyed by people who have never sympathized with motorcyclists: we live in an increasingly absolutist world devoid of tolerance. Those who go on foot cannot stand mountain bikes, whose users are against motorized vehicles. We too often quarrel with enduro riders, who then have complaints with those who use 4 wheels!

We will be forever grateful to all those who use the chainsaw to clear the paths of fallen trees: we know that they are always the same and few compared to the total number of motorcycle club members. It is up to the association, within it, to enhance their work with particular gratifications. In the specific case of the Canavese club, alias "il valli", we observe from the posts published on Facebook, that often the cleaning trip then leads to an appreciated convivial meal in some restaurant-refuge along the chosen route.

A return to the past, the one that led to the first diffusion of the Trial in Italy, in the form of what is called "Motoalpinismo"(to go to mountain tracks using a motorbike), today in any case in full activity in the events called Mulatrial. A respectable phenomenon, see that of Albenga scheduled for this weekend, capable of attracting up to 700 participants!

Chi ama il motoalpimismo pulisce anche i sentieri!

Nel 2015 in occasione del campionato europeo organizzato a Luserna San Giovanni il moto club Alpi Ovest ebbe una geniale idea: sfruttare l'onda d'urto di una manifestazione internazionale per rilanciare il Trial fra i giovanissimi.

Venne organizzato un concorso cher richiedeva un disegno sul Trial ai ragazzi in età scolare dei comuni limitrofi. A tutti indistintamente i partecipanti venne distribuito poi un DVD in cui si voleva convincere a provare il Trial, partendo – come spesso si usa nelle dimostrazioni in matematica – dal negare l'opposto: si sono analizzati i motivi che potenzialmente possono allontanare le persone dal nostro sport. Uno di questi motivi che scopriamo essere ancora oggi attuale è quello di sfatare il luogo comune di non esserci posti dove andare rispettando le leggi, evitando il rischio di venire braccato dalle forze dell'ordine alla stregua di un delinquente.

Come ribadito nel video non è vero che non esistono percorsi o aree dove esercitare la nostra passione in piena libertà. In Piemonte senza dubbio la palma della più ricca zona in cui gli appassionati possono circolare in perfetta legalità se l'aggiudica il moto club Valli del Canavese.

Da più di dieci anni Vanni Crisapulli – presidente – e soci possono disporre di circa 40 km quadrati e di 200 km di sentieri che si intersecano nei comuni di Alpette, Canischio, Forno Canavese, Pont Canavese, Prascorsano, Pratigliano, Levone, Monastero di Lanzo, Rocca Canavese, San Colombano di Belmonte e Sparone.

Il segreto? Una sinergia fra quello è il lavoro burocratico e politico perpetrato nelle opportune sedi, e quello in cui i 130 soci – magari non tutti in modo uguale – provvedono alla pulizia e al mantenimento di tale patrimonio.

Nel primo, il successo è principalmente dovuto alla diplomazia e all'ottemperanza di Vanni - oggi vice sindaco del comune di Cuorgnè, considerato la capitale di questa terra che sorge a nord di Torino verso la Val d'Aosta. Vanni non smette mai di sostenere gli interventi di cui necessitano boschi e sentieri affinchè la vegetazione non li cancelli per sempre. Spesso il CAI non può ottemperare alla questione, causa la vastità del territorio e la scarsità dei fondi a disposizione.

Ben venga allora l'antico detto di “unire l'utile al dilettevole”. La funzione di tenere in ordine sentieri e mulattiere in cambio della possibilità di fruirne in moto, “val bene una messa” – direbbe Enrico IV, pioniere nel passato (forse).

Pazienza se di queste migliorie ne potranno godere anche persone che non hanno mai simpatizzato con i motociclisti: viviamo in un mondo sempre più assolutista e privo di tolleranza. Chi va a piedi non sopporta le mtb, i cui utilizzatori sono contro i mezzi a motore. Anche noi spesso litighiamo con gli enduristi, che poi hanno da ridire con chi usa le 4 ruote!

Noi saremo per sempre grati a tutti coloro che inforcano la motosega per liberare dagli alberi caduti i sentieri: sappiamo che sono sempre gli stessi e pochi rispetto al numero totale dei soci dei moto club. Spetta al sodalizio, nel suo interno valorizzare il loro lavoro con gratificazioni particolari. Nel caso specifico del club del Canavese, alias “il valli” , osserviamo dai post pubblicati su Facebook, che sovente la gita di pulizia sfocia poi in un apprezzato pasto conviviale in qualche ristorante-rifugio lungo la via scelta.

Un ritorno al passato, quello che ha determinato la prima diffusione del Trial in Italia, sotto la forma di Motoalpinismo, oggi comunque in piena attività nelle manifestazioni denominate Mulatrial. Un fenomeno di tutto rispetto, si veda quella di Albenga in programma questo fine settimana, capace di attrarre fino a 700 partecipanti!
