She is not a Trial star, at least for now, she is not a rising star, because even though she doesn't look her age, she is not a twenty year old, yet she has earned our attention for her stubbornness and independence in facing < b>completely alone the 24 zones of the two days of the Lastours Trial Classic 2024 at the beginning of last March.

The author of phototrial.it has always supported and been a strong promoter of women's trials. Since then there have been moments of high interest in almost all the Trial nations, which then slowly waned for various reasons, first of all the very high level that the best women in the world have reached and, inevitably, imposed. But if the modern Trial has become too difficult, fortunately there is the world of vintage Trial to help you.

Sophie took this opportunity and, despite practicing both types of the same specialty, she tries her hand at it with admirable passion, even to the point of going alone to these rounds of the Trial Vintage Trophy, the French vintage Trial championship.

At Lastours she ran in the "green" level, which is not even the lowest, and what impressed us was the speed with which he examined the sections and then faced them, perhaps leaving a few "feet" of distraction, but always with smile printed on her face. No minder who shouted at her what to do or who put himself in the most difficult places to give her security in case of failure. Just courage and a bit of healthy recklessness. Let's add that she has no ambitions of placing in the rankings, there is no female category in the TVT. She is therefore the personification of that spirit of pure passion that accompanied the 70s and partially also the 80s in Italy, but which has been completely lost in our times.

It's right to exchange a few words with her, hoping that her example can be followed by other girls, because the Trial needs the female world: there would be much more media attention and the whole environment would benefit.

Like it, Trial needs people who race just for the pleasure of it, without thinking about the ranking or the championship.

Where are you from Sophie?

I was born in Lyon and live in the south-west suburbs of Lyon.

When did you start practicing Trial?

I learned to ride a Cota 50 at the age of 8 and really did Trials about 15 years ago.

Wow, you're young, how old are you?

I'm 38 years old, I'll be 39 in June!

Why the Trial?

I am passionate about motorbikes in general and Trials in particular.

Who influenced your passion for Trials?

My father for motorbikes and my friends for Trials.

What's your job? Can you have free time to train?

I am an accounting clerk in an insurance company. I don't work on weekends, that's my free time.

Only vintage Trial or also the modern one?

No, I also race modern Trials with a Gas Gas.

More modern Trial or more vintage Trial?

I like them both, I have no preferences.

How long have you been practicing vintage trials?

Since 2016. I started with the Ventoux classic.

What do you like about vintage Trials?

The atmosphere, the environment and the people and then the route adapted to the old riding style.

What do you like about the Lastours race? Was it the first time?

I like Lastours for the landscapes and the organization. It was the fourth time.

Did you run alone? I saw you in the first section then you left: is this your way of riding? Don't you study the sections too much, or was it too easy?

No, it wasn't too easy. This time I was alone, my usual teammates couldn't come. As a group we take more time to examine the sections.

What other trials races do you have planned for the 2024 season?

Nyons, Rochepaule, la Châtre, and Ventoux for vintage. The 4 days of Creuse in a modern key.

Do you train during the week?

I don't have the time. I normally go with friends on Sunday morning.

Do you have any other hobbies?

Car and motorbike mechanics, music, DIY at home.

Where do you want to go with Trial? Do you have goals or are you just doing it for fun?

I just do it for fun.

Who is your favorite champion? And female champion?

Toni Bou, the king, the extraterrestrial! In the women's field, Emma Bristow. At a lower level I support Kieran Touly, because he is from my region.

Sophie Ogier, quando la passione è più grande di ogni difficoltà ...

Non è una star del Trial, almeno per ora, non è un astro nascente , perchè pur non dimostrando gli anni che ha, non si tratta di una ventenne, eppure si è guadagnata la nostra attenzione per la sua caparbietà e indipendenza nell'affrontare completamente da sola le 24 zone della Due Giorni della Lastours Trial Classic 2024 di inizio marzo scorso.

Da sempre l'autore di phototrial.it ha sostenuto ed è stato un forte promotore del Trial femminile. Non crede di peccare di superbia affermando che se tuttora esiste un campionato del mondo riservato alle donne un grosso merito spetta al suo lavoro di fine anni '90 di spingere ad organizzare quei primi meeting internazionali a Torre Pellice, in provincia di Torino, propedeutici poi al riconoscimento mondiale della specialità coniugata al femminile.(in un report del 2013 se ne riparla: :http://www.phototrial.it/2013wc/99-donne.html)

Da allora si sono vissuti momenti di alto interesse un po' in tutte le nazioni del Trial, che poi sono lentamente scemati per varie ragioni, prima su tutte il livello molto elevato che le migliori donne al mondo hanno raggiunto e, inevitabilmente, imposto. Ma se il Trial moderno è diventato troppo difficile , per fortuna in suo aiuto c'è il mondo del Trial d'epoca.

Sophie ha colto questa opportunità e, pur praticando entrambe le tipologie della stessa specialità, si cimenta con ammirevole passione, al punto anche di andarci da sola a queste gare del Trial Vintage Trophy, il campionato di Trial d'epoca francese.

A Lastours ha corso nel livello “verde”, che non è neanche il più basso, e quello che ci ha impressionato è stata la velocità in cui ha esaminato le zone per poi eseguirle, magari lasciando qualche “piede” di distrazione, ma sempre col sorriso stampato sul viso. Nessun minder che gli urlasse il dà farsi o che si mettesse nei punti più scabrosi per darle sicurezza in caso di insuccesso. Solo coraggio e un po' di sana incoscienza. Aggiungiamo poi che non nutre velleità di piazzamento in classifica, nel TVT non esiste una categoria femminile. Lei dunque è la personificazione di quello spirito di pura passione che in Italia accompagnava gli anni '70 e parzialmente anche quelli '80, ma che si è completamente perso nei tempi nostri.

Giusto scambiare con lei due parole, sperando che il suo esempio possa essere seguito da altre ragazze, perchè il Trial ha bisogno del mondo femminile: ci sarebbe molta più attenzione mediatica e tutto l'ambiente ne gioverebbe.

Come il Trial ha bisogno di gente che corra giusto per il piacere di farlo, senza pensare alla classifica o al campionato.

Sono nata a Lione e vivo nella periferia sud-ovest di Lione.

Quando hai iniziato a praticare il Trial?

Ho imparato ad andare in moto su una Cota 50 all'età di 8 anni e a fare davvero Trial circa 15 anni fa.

Caspita, ma sei giovane, quanti anni hai?

Ho 38 anni, a giugno ne farò 39!

Perché il Trial?

Sono appassionata di moto in generale e di Trial in particolare.

Chi ha influenzato la tua passione per il Trial?

Mio padre per le moto e i miei amici per il Trial.

Che lavoro fai? Riesci ad avere del tempo libero per allenarti?

Sono una impiegata contabile in una compagnia di assicurazioni. Non lavoro nei fine settimana, quello è il mio tempo libero.

Solo Trial vintage o anche quello moderno?

No corro anche nel Trial moderno con una Gas Gas.

Più Trial moderno o più Trial vintage?

Mi piacciono entrambi, non ho preferenze.

Da quanto tempo pratichi il Trial vintage?

Dal 2016. Ho incomiciato con la classica del Ventoux.

Cosa ti piace dei Trial vintage?

L'atmosfera, l'ambiente e le persone e poi il percorso adattato al vecchio stile di guida.

Cosa ti piace della gara di Lastours? Era la prima volta?

Mi piace Lastours per i paesaggi e per l'organizzazione. Era la quarta volta.

Hai corso da sola? Ti ho visto nella prima zona poi sei andata via: è questo il tuo modo di guidare? Non studi troppo le zone, o era troppo facile?

No, non è stato troppo facile. Questa volta ero sola, i miei soliti compagni di squadra non sono potuti venire. In compagnia ci prendiamo più tempo per esaminare le zone.

Quali altre gare di trial hai in programma per la stagione 2024?

Nyons, Rochepaule, la Châtre, e il Ventoux per il vintage. La 4 giorni della Creuse in chiave moderna.

Ti alleni durante la settimana?

Non ne ho il tempo. Normalmente vado con gli amici alla domenica mattina.

Lo faccio solo per divertimento.
