The first ASI Vintage Trial Trophy (TATA) ended in Monte San Giovanni in Sabina, near Rieti in an atmosphere of great celebration. Two days of competitions on a tested and appreciated course, granted by the local administration. Ten sections to be repeated twice, traced by the expert Maurizio Aluffi who was advised to keep a low level for all three colors: white, yellow and green.

If in the past, after seeing the scores on Saturday, logic would have prompted the organizers to crack down on the sections, this time the main purpose of this Trophy prevailed: the desire to expand the base, attracting new or old fans. lost along the way after the gradual increase in difficulties. As we have often said, a rider who cleans the whole race and protests at the ease of the routes must not be listened to. It is simply in the wrong category.

The words of the president David Nobili of Monte Pizzuto ASD in both awards were of contagious enthusiasm. To the almost 30 riders of the Trophy, 24 were added with modern bikes, not at all annoyed to race for once as they did in the past. Wide-ranging curves, roots, but also some stones, all without the need to hop. In fact, several riders wanted to try the higher category on Sunday and did not regret it.

It was also an opportunity to draw the prize for the bike up for grabs of Paolo Espen's Espen Trial Team, an Italjet T350. By the will of the donor, the lottery consisted of a variable number of tickets assigned to each rider in proportion to the number of races for vintage motorcycles carried out in the season, both Group 5 FMI and TATA ASI. Luck has chosen a true rider who is a regular frequenter of the racing fields, including international ones: Luciano Molteni, who in this trophy raced with an RTL Honda in the “mono” category.

As it was the last appointment of the season, the motorcycle club had to arrange the final championship awards for all categories and all colors: from pre-75, pre-80, post-80 and mono, white, yellow and green. A medal for the first three, accompanied by a bag containing packs of high quality ancient wheat pasta offered by the Pregiato Pastificio Meloni, in existence since 1927.

Other prizes were acquired thanks to the support of the Confartigianato Imprese Rieti.

The great party ended with grilled barbeque washed down with Montepulciano wine, graciously cooked on the spot by the group of Abruzzo pilots, who also brought some excellent pecorino cheese to taste, while the skewers were cooking. German Florian Dreher, winner of the Post-80 yellow course category, also brought two cases of beer from his homeland.

The common feeling was to have created an amateur championship that revives that joyful atmosphere of the first years of the Trial in Italy. Those magical 70s where it was discovered and efforts joined together to fight the common enemy: the section!

The Monte Pizzuto association has applied for another edition in 2023 and the organizing committee of the Trophy is already working to draw up the calendar for the new year and make any changes to the regulations.

Finale in festa per il TATA

Si è concluso il primo Trofeo ASI Trial Antico (TATA) a Monte San Giovanni in Sabina , vicino a Rieti in un clima di grande festa. Due giorni di gare su un percorso collaudato e apprezzato, concesso dall'Amministrazione locale. Dieci zone da ripetersi due volte, tracciate dall'esperto Maurizio Aluffi a cui è stato consigliato di tenere un livello basso per tutti i tre colori: bianco, giallo e verde.

Se in passato dopo aver visto i punteggi del sabato la logica avrebbe spinto gli organizzatori a dare un giro di vite, inasprendo le zone, questa volta è prevalso lo scopo principale di questo Trofeo: il voler allargare la base, attirando appassionati nuovi o quelli vecchi persi per strada dopo il progressivo innalzamento delle difficoltà. Come abbiamo spesso affermato, un pilota che gira a zero e protesta per la facilità dei percorsi non si deve ascoltare. E' semplicemente nella categoria sbagliata.

Le parole del presidente David Nobili del Monte Pizzuto ASDin entrambe le premiazioni sono state di un entusiasmo contagioso. Ai quasi 30 piloti del Trofeo, se ne sono aggiunti 24 con moto moderne, per nulla indispettiti di correre per una volta come lo si faceva nel passato. Curve di ampio respiro, radici, ma anche qualche pietrone, tutto senza necessità di effettuare spostamenti. Infatti diversi piloti alla domenica hanno voluto provare la categoria superiore e non se ne sono pentiti.

E' stata anche occasione per sorteggiare la moto messa in palio della Espen Trial Team di Paolo Espen, una Italjet T350. Per volontà del donatore la lotteria era composta da un numero variabile di biglietti assegnati a ciascun pilota in proporzione del numero di gare per moto d'epoca effettuate nella stagione, sia Gruppo 5 FMI, sia TATA ASI. La sorte ha scelto un pilota vero assiduo frequentatore dei campi di gare, anche internazionali: Luciano Molteni, che in questo trofeo ha corso con una RTL Honda nella categoria “mono”.

Essendo poi l'ultimo appuntamento della stagione al moto club è toccato provvedere alla premiazione finale di campionato per tutte le categorie e tutti i colori: dalla pre-75, pre-80, post-80 e mono, bianco, giallo e verde. Una medaglia per i primi tre, corredati da una busta contenente pacchi di una pasta di grano antico di alta qualità offerta del Pregiato Pastificio Meloni, in essere dal 1927.

Altri premi sono stati acquistati grazie all'appoggio della Confartigianato Imprese Rieti.

La gran festa è terminata con gli arrosticini alla brace innaffiati dal vino Montepulciano gentilmente cucinati sul momento dal gruppo di piloti abruzzesi, che hanno portato anche dell'ottimo pecorino da gustare, mentre gli spedini cuocevano. Anche il tedesco Florian Dreher, vincitore della categoria Post-80 percorso giallo, ha portato due casse di birra della sua terra.

La sensazione comune è stato di aver creato un campionato amatoriale che fa rivivere quell'atmosfera gioiosa dei primi anni del Trial in Italia. Quei magici anni '70 dove lo si scopriva e gli sforzi si univano per combattere il nemico comune: la zona controllata!

L'associazione Monte Pizzuto si è candidata per un'altra edizione nel 2023 e il Comitato organizzatore del Trofeo è già al lavoro per stilare il calendario del nuovo anno ed effettuare eventuali modifiche al regolamento.
