30/11/23 - If Trial women choose the Vintage ...

Women who ride Trials! How many times have we debated this topic, how many times have we argued that with greater female participation there would certainly also be an increase in male practitioners and the whole environment would benefit from it!

Work has been done since the late 1990s with the first international women's trials organized in Val Pellice, preparatory to worldwide recognition for the category, but now evolution has created a rift among girls too. A Bristow or an Abellan are unattainable but all the women in the first category of the world championship ride in a modern and highly spectacular way. Not an easy way to approach for a novice. It is therefore normal that there is a search for Trials that is more suited to men (in this case women), where one can have fun without taking too many risks.

An excellent opportunity therefore to participate in what can be considered the Trial event of the year: the usual end-of-season event on the Costa Brava. Being able to count on 450 riders is a good record in a sport that feels a deep crisis.

But this is about Vintage Trials, not Modern Trials, be careful! Why all these people? Many factors are the secret of this success.

The end of November date helps because the most important championships are now over. The climate and temperature are almost always mild given the latitude and the presence of the sea.

The freedom to race with any motorcycle with two shock absorbers, in fact you can see them in all colours: from those strictly compliant with the years of production to those appropriately modified to add modern technologies such as electronic ignitions, higher performance suspensions, aluminum swingarms and so on ...

Here the narcissistic component of those who have worked carefully to make their mount unique and on this occasion have the opportunity to exhibit it to a global audience comes into play. Then there is the widespread media coverage, from the English magazine Trial Magazine to the French site Trial-Club, to which this year have been added very rich photo albums posted on Facebook by the Catalan Joan Valls, from whom we captured the images of this service.

But in our opinion the main attraction remains the scrupulous attention that the motorcycle club places in designing the sections. Easy and not at all dangerous. If there are more and more enthusiasts who divert their forces towards the world of ancient trials, this is the most significant reason: they are fed up with the fact that in order to adapt to the progressive evolutionary process of modern motorbikes we end up designing ever narrower sections and exaggerated obstacles.

The Trial Vintage phenomenon must make manufacturers and organizers reflect: it is rapidly expanding not only due to the contribution of nostalgic enthusiasts of a bygone era, but it is also involving new generations eager for a less exasperated Trial and more accessible to all.

Se le donne del Trial scelgono il Vintage ...

Le donne che fanno Trial! Quante volte abbiamo dibattuto questo argomento, quante volte abbiamo sostenuto che con una maggior partecipazione femminile ci sarebbe sicuramente anche un aumento dei praticanti maschilie tutto l'ambiente ne trarrebbe giovamento!

Di lavoro se n'è fatto dai lontani fine anni '90 coi primi trial internazionali femminili organizzati in Val Pellice, propedeutici ad un riconoscimento mondiale per la categoria, ma ora l'evoluzione ha creato una spaccatura anche fra le ragazze. Una Bristow o una Abellan sono irraggiungibili ma tutte le donne della prima categoria del mondiale guidano in modo moderno e altamente spettacolare. Un modo di non facile approccio per una neofita. E' quindi normale che ci sia una ricerca di Trial più a misura d'uomo (in questo caso donna) , dove ci si possa divertire senza correre troppi rischi.

Ottima occasione quindi partecipare a quello che si può considerare l'evento dell'anno del Trial: il consueto appuntamento di fine stagione della Costa Brava. Poter contare su ben 450 piloti è un bel record in uno sport che avverte profonda aria di crisi.

Ma qui si tratta di Trial d'Epoca, non Trial Moderno attenzione! Come mai tutta questa gente? Tanti fattori sono il segreto di questo successo.

La data di fine novembre aiuta perchè i più importanti campionati sono ormai terminati. Il clima e la temperatura quasi sempre clementi vista la latitudine e la presenza del mare.

La libertà di correre con qualsiasi moto a due ammortizzatori, infatti se ne vedono di tutti i colori:da quelle rigorosamente conformi agli anni di produzione a quelle opportunamente modificate per aggiungervi tecnologie moderne come accensioni elettroniche, sospensioni più performanti, forcelloni in alluminio e così via...

Qui interviene la componente narcisistica di chi ci ha lavorato con cura per rendere la propria cavalcatura unica e in quest'occasione ha la possibilità di esibirla ad una platea mondiale. Poi c'è la larga copertura mediatica, dalla rivista inglese Trial Magazine al sito francese Trial-Club , ai quali quest'anno si sono aggiunti ricchissimi album di foto posti su Facebook dal catalano Joan Valls, dal quale abbiamo colto le immagini di questo servizio.

Ma secondo noi l'attrazione principale rimane la scrupolosa attenzione che il moto club pone nel disegnare le zone. Facili e per nulla pericolose. Se ci sono sempre più appassionati che dirottano le loro forze verso il mondo del trial antico questa è la ragione più significativa:sono stufi che per adeguare il progressivo processo evolutivo delle moto moderne si finisca per tracciare sezioni sempre più strette, e ostacoli esagerati.

Il fenomeno Trial Vintage deve far riflettere i costruttori e gli organizzatori: è in grande espansione non solo per l'apporto di nostalgici appassionati di un epoca passata, ma sta coinvolgendo anche nuove generazioni desiderose di un Trial meno esasperato e più fruibile da tutti.
