26/04/23 - TrialGP Women, what a leap forward!

How good are the women of TrialGP! The number does not grow but the level does. There is no crisis in the female world, which holds more or less the same share of the market: some stop, some join. In any case, in the premier class there are more female riders than men. There were 14 against 11 in the first round at Arteixo in Spain. What strikes us is the ability and confidence with which they face increasingly challenging obstacles without any fear and showing off a grit worthy of the best champions of the specialty.

After all, Phototrial has always believed in the potential of women's Trial and although it is probable that no one remembers between the new generations, this magazine has played a fundamental role in the worldwide recognition of the women's sector.

The three international Trials organized in Torre Pellice, Italy in 1997, 1998 and 1999 were preparatory to the establishment of the first Women's Trial of Nations in Seva, Spain in 2000. My personal thought thinking back then is how much the level has risen. In 1997, being part of the organizing team, one of my roles was to accompany the athletes to the inspection lap on the eve. In front of their doubtful eyes, I happened to try all the sections - a kind of forerunner of the day before - to guarantee them the feasibility of the same.

My colleague Felix Kranstover of the German magazine Trialsport, as well as a world-class pilot in the 70s, teased me by saying that I had organized these meetings only because at the time of the inspection tour I had a certain number of girls who responded positively to my invitation to follow me …

Regardless of the fact that I was even a few years younger then, I think that even if today I had magically kept that age, I wouldn't dream of "entering" one of the violet gates in their TrialGP category.

So I can only applaud them and post a souvenir photo of all the participants, starting this time from the bottom, so that even the last ones can find the motivation to continue honoring this championship.

TrialGP Donne, che balzo in avanti!

Che brave la donne della TrialGP! Il numero non cresce ma il livello sì. Non c'è crisi nel mondo femminile, che tiene più o meno la stessa fetta del mercato: qualcuna smette, qualcuna si aggiunge. In ogni caso nella classe regina ci sono più piloti-donna che uomini. Si parla di 14 contro 11 al primo appuntamento ad Arteixo in Spagna. Quello che ci colpisce è la capacità e la sicurezza con cui affrontano gli ostacoli sempre più impegnativi senza alcuna paura e sfoderando una grinta degna dei migliori campioni della specialità.

Del resto Phototrial ha sempre creduto nella potenzialità del Trial femminile e anche se delle nuove generazioni probabile che nessuna se ne ricordi, questa testata ha giocato un ruolo fondamentale per il riconoscimento a livello mondiale del settore donne.

I tre Trial internazionali organizzati a Torre Pellice, Italia negli 1997,1998 e 1999 sono stati propedeutici all'istituzione del primo Trial delle Nazioni femminile a Seva, Spagna nell'anno 2000. La mia personale riflessione pensando all'epoca è quanto sia salito il livello. Nel 1997, essendo parte del team organizzatore, tra i miei ruoli vi era anche quello di accompagnare le atlete al giro di ispezione della vigilia. Di fronte ai loro occhi dubitativi mi era capitato di esibirmi nel provare tutte le sezioni - una specie di apripista del giorno prima – per garantire loro la fattibilià delle medesime.

Il mio collega Felix Kranstover della rivista tedesca Trialsport , nonché pilota a livello mondiale anni 70, mi prendeva in giro dicendo che avevo organizzato questi meeting solo perchè nel momento del giro di ispezione avevo un tot di ragazze che rispondevano positivamente al mio invito a seguirmi …

A prescindere che allora avevo anche qualche anno in meno, credo che anche se oggi avessi mantenuto per incanto quell'età, non mi sognerei minimamente di “entrare” in una delle porte violette della loro categoria TrialGP.

Quindi non posso che applaudirle e pubblicare una foto ricordo di tutte le partecipanti, a partire stavolta dal fondo, perchè anche le ultime possano trovare la motivazione per continuare ad onorare questo campionato.
