Press release by Honda-Montesa Montesa-HRC and Dougie Lampkin renew contract for two more seasons. Santa Perpètua de Mogoda (Barcelona, Spain), 30.10.2003.- Montesa-HRC and Dougie Lampkin have extended the contract from the last four years until the end of 2005. Since the start of their relationship, Montesa-HRC and Lampkin have represented the mark to be beaten in terms of the world of trial biking. Over this period, the British rider has taken his number of world titles to seven, whilst adding another two indoor championships and two Spanish and English championships. With Dougie Lampkin in the team, Montesa-HRC has won the manufacturer's world title for the last four years and this is the goal for the next two years as well. Born in Silsden (Great Britain) on March 23, 1976, and son of the first world trial champion, Lampkin is a living legend in this branch of motor sport, with no less than 91 victories in World Championship trials to date. "When I came to Montesa-HRC, my aim was to match the seven titles that Jordi Tarrés had won in the past. And now my goal is to beat that mark. I feel strong and motivated and I know that I can continue to count on the best technical and human support", stated Lampkin. For 2004, Montesa-HRC will also continue to count on Takahisa Fujinami and Marc Freixa, which means that the team for next year will be the same one that this year managed to take the top three places in the World and Spanish Championships. The first meeting that will bring these three riders together is the Indoor Trial in Monza, Italy, which, on November 29, marks the start of the new indoor World Championship.
